Gabriel Milito, a argentine mariscal

He was part of the amazing moment of Pep’s Guardiola in the FC Barcelona when this team got the maximum soccer expression at a season, getting the six availabe cups: Liga, Copa del Rey, Champions League, Super Copa de España, Super Copa de Europa and FIFA world cup of clubs in Japan. We are talking the 2008-2009 season.

Actually the close people to the team, knows that the defender Gabriel Milito was the right hand of Guardiola that season being very close to the DT. Milito had very bad time in the team when we talk about the minutes because he suffered several injurys in his knees. Gabriel played 76 matches in FC Barcelona since he arrived at 2007 until he left at 2011.

After his european experience starting at Real Zaragoza of Spain, he came back to Argentina to play with his team of the childhood, Club Atlético Independiente, where he played two seasons ( end of 2011 and 2012) more accumulating other 35 matches in his career.

After 14 years playing at the maximun level of the soccer, Gabriel Milito decided to retire as a player and he started to become in a soccer coach. His first step was at the young divisions at the same club that saw him born, Independiente. There he was two years with the second team, also called “Reserve”. He got some offers from the first team, but knew that was not the moment to take it. Actually Independiente by the moment was fighting for not descend of division in the Argentina Championship.

Passed three years and Milito still was coaching the future players of Independiente until that Estudiantes de La Plata made a offer to him to be the leader of the team in 2015. The “Mariscal” took the opportunity and now that is what he is doing. In his firts season Gabriel Milito has a nice record of 11 won matches, 8 draws and 2 loses in 21 disputed matches, trying to teach what he saw when was the right hand of Pep Guardiola in FC Barcelona, the best team of all times.
